Gomba Ssaza Chief (Kitunzi) Fred Williams Mugabi took the first turn by naming Jane Namatovu the chairperson of the Gomba Ssaza team Committee, becoming the first woman to have the opportunity of serving in this responsibility.
On the Committee announced on March 13th, 2026, Namatovu was brought in to take the role from Andrew Musasiizi, who took the responsibility in 2025 complain.
Following the appointment that came 5 days from International Women’s Day, Namatovu announced her readiness to fully take the responsibility, “I thank Kitunzi for entrusting me with this responsibility. I am ready to serve, working hand in hand with the entire committee to see Gomba deliver the best results for the upcoming Masaza cup season.”
Namatovu will work with the support from her vice Chairpersons in Swaibu Luzinda and Peter Wasswa who was brought in to replace Anita Nantale on the committee.
On the same note, Kitunzi elevated Resty Mbatidde Namugema, who has been the Publicity for the past three seasons, to Team Manager, becoming the second to take the Team Manager responsibility. Ibrahim Bbossa was named Mbatidde’s replacement.
The first was Betty Mayanja, who steered Kyadondo Ssaza team to their only Masaza cup final in 2008 under the Chairpersonship of Frank Kyazze, letting Gomba be the first to have a Female Chairperson and team Manager.
Gomba is remaining the record championship with 5 titles despite not winning the Masaza Cup for the past four seasons and failing to go through the group stage in the last two seasons.
