GOU to enforce more sports development with 100 acre facility in Hoima

In a way to see the Hoima City Stadium functioning to its cause after the 2027 AFCON, the government of Uganda (GOU) has staged to secured 100 acres from Kitara Diocese to set up a multi-sports training academy.

On Wednesday, November 26, a team from the Uganda National Council of Sports, led by Chairman Ambrose Tashobye, inspected the land located just a few kilometers from Hoima City Stadium along the Hoima-Masindi Highway at Sir Tito Winyi College.

At the inspection, Tashobya was accompanied by other Board Members including Moses Anyii Omara, Cecilia Anyakoit, Piloya Evelyn Gloria, and Stephen Kiprotich, and a team from the NCS Secretariat.

The National Sports Academy in target is aimed to accommodate a football training field attached to the Hoima City stadium, plus six other training pitches for the academy, outdoor courts for basketball and volleyball, a hostel for visitors, a gym, dormitories for resident students, classrooms, an administration block, and a swimming pool.

After the land inspection, the team commenced to Hoima City, and contractor SUMMA took them around the stadium for a tour.
