Matchday 1 of the University Football League continued with several exciting matches this weekend. Ndejje University, IUIU, and Gulu University have emerged victorious in their opening encounters.
Ndejje University secured a crucial 1-0 away win over Kumi University on Saturday, September 21st. Defender Clement Ebasu scored the lone goal to give Ndejje the victory.
IUIU staged a remarkable comeback against Busitema University in the Mbale Derby. After falling behind in the first half through Derrick Wanduma’s goal, IUIU scored two quick goals in the 83rd and 85th minutes through Denis Onongo and Ismael Tumubula to secure all three points.
The most surprising result of the weekend came in Gulu, where Gulu University upset Bugema University. Derrick Ssengendo’s solitary goal proved to be the difference-maker.
The league will resume on Tuesday, September 24th, with Kabale University hosting YMCA Comprehensive.
