The Rugby Championship enters its fourth week and the headline fixture features undefeated Jinja Hippos, making the trip to the defending champions’ house, Stanbic Black Pirates.

The Jinja Hippos are enjoying their best run of results ever, featuring a first-ever win against the KCB KOBs, a local derby win against the Walukuba Barbarians and a hard-earned draw against the Heathens; the first time they avoided a loss against the Heathens.

The Stanbic Black Pirates, on the other hand, recovered from an opening weekend loss to the Heathens, to beat the KCB KOBs in week 2 and humble the Warriors a week later, a combination of results that have seen them climb to third place on the log.

There are massive top-four implications on the line in Bweyogerere with the Hippos looking to add the Pirates to their list of victims this year and complete an impressive trifecta of results against the Big Three of Ugandan rugby.

The Pirates understand that they are the defending Champions and they have a target on their backs and have no more room for slip-ups like was the case on the opening weekend.

The Pirates will be without skipper Ivan Magomu for another week, as he continues to serve his ban for the way he handled the contract negotiations and image rights, bringing the details of the agreements to the public through social media.

Other exciting match-ups

The Toyota Buffaloes find themselves in a locked horns battle with table leaders, Rhinos, at Kyadondo Rugby Club, while Kyadondo tenants, Platinum Credit Heathens, make the trip to Entebbe to face the stubborn painters, the Plascon Mongers.

KCB KOBs hope to register their second win of the year, when they come up against relegation-threatened Impis, while the Kampani’s Eagles and Warriors square off in a relegation battle.

The Lifeguard Rams will be away to the Walukuba Barbarians in a rematch of the infamous Uganda Cup battle that ensured the Barbarians wouldn’t make it out of the group stages.
