The seventh Elite Secondary Schools games draw was held successfully with the most interesting outcome being this year’s tournament’s host Janan SS Bombo facing last year’s winner Buddo SS in Boys Football.
The fixture follows the draws held on Wednesday, February 25 at Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association’s offices in Kampala at GNS plaza.
Both host and Defending Champions were placed in Group A with Buddo SS being the first team of the group and Janan SS coming as team number 5.
With Buddo SS Squad comprising some players that left Janan Schools when the management decided to scrap off sports scholarships, it stands as an aspect which can bring interest around the game.
In the game Janan SS is hoped to field top academic students with talents while Buddo SS is hoped to field exceptional discovered talents in the game that will take place on February 27 morning.
After the opening game, the games shall commence with others games in both group A and B with each game happening for a maximum of 70 minutes as USSSA Technical official Ayub Khalifa Kiyingi explains.
To while have held our successfully draws, the main interest continued to come up from Football after all the teams turned up. With that, we have drawn all those teams into two groups for both boys and girls. Being with many games of football, each half will be played for 35 minutes with every team having two games a day.
For the other sports disciplines including Netball, Rugby, Volleyball, Handball, Basketball and Basketball 3×3 will be played on round robin bases to enable our students having enough game time.
