Uganda Cranes midfielder Allan Okello has assured Ugandans of the importance of hosting the Africa Nations Championship.
In his interraction with the media after Uganda Cranes training on Monday, July 14th, Okello revealed the positive competition in the camp for players looking to make the final cut.
“We are working hard on each and every aspect we think to be our weakness, and looking to apply the instructions from our coaches. Everyone is working hard and everyone is looking to make the final squad.”
He added; “As a National team player, you demand yourself to give fans what they deserve. With the unity in the squad, it is going to be wonderful for us. We are all working hard to make our fans happy because we need them behind us, but it is also a wonderful opportunity for us as Ugandans, not just the players.”
On the team’s progression in preparations, Okello noted; “There are some nerves, but we are soon getting ready to go. The atmosphere is good; the coaches are working hard, and the players too.”
Uganda is in Group C along with Niger, Guinea, Algeria, and South Africa.
The 2024 CHAN will be co-hosted by Uganda, Kenya, and Tanzania between August 2nd and 31st.
