Hosts Uganda 1 sweeps Africa Junior Kabaddi Schools Championship

The first edition of the Africa U20 Kabaddi Schools Championship climaxed with Uganda winning all trophies in both categories.

Uganda was represented by Kyadondo SS, Bombo Army, St. Banabas College Migadde, and Mulusa Academy at the tournament which took place at Kyadondo SS Matugga Kiryagonja between December 13 and 17.

Of the four teams, only Kyadondo SS reached both Girls and Boys finals and went on to take all the trophies.

Uganda 1 (Kyadondo SS) defeated Kenya, who chose to participate with a combined team, in both Girls (18 – 13 points) and Boys (32 – 24 points).

In the Girls final, Uganda 1/Kyadondo SS were boosted with top performances from Nakayongo Shirat, who was named the best raider and the most valuable player of the tournament Erina Nattabi.

For boys, it was individual brilliance from Tenywa Marvin, the best defender, and tournament MVP Mubarak Wandeka.
