Coach Onen Charles on Friday named the Lady Cranes squad that will be representing Uganda in the HSBC World Rugby 7s Challenger Series in Uruguay this March.

Black Pearls’ speedboat engine Grace Auma has returned to the squad after a four-month hiatus due to an ankle injury sustained while in Tunisia in 2023.

Juliet Nandawula, the Avenger, has also been added to the squad to bolster their chances in Montevideo. The duo come in to replace Yvonne Najjuma and Janat Nandudu.

The Lady Cranes were proud fourth-place holders in Dubai, at the first installment of the HSBC World Rugby 7s Challenger Series, despite being debutantes. They have been grouped in Pool C alongside Argentina, Mexico and Thailand.

“The 2024 edition of the Challenger competition kicked off with combined events at The Sevens Stadium in Dubai on 12-14 January and is to be followed by events at Estadio Charrúa in Montevideo, Uruguay, on 8-10 March before standalone women’s and men’s events at Henryk Reyman’s Municipal Stadium in Krakow, Poland and Dantestadion in Munich, Germany respectively on 18-19 May.”
