Those were some of the calm words of Khalid Aucho after his Tanzanian club, Singida Black Stars, handed him a three-month suspension.
On Friday, February 27, 2026, the club announced that its Disciplinary Committee had found the Uganda Cranes captain guilty of misconduct and unprofessional behavior, including absenteeism from duty. He was suspended for three months.
In the same statement, the club confirmed that goalkeeper Amas Obasogie had also been suspended for three months pending investigations into alleged match-fixing.
“The leadership of Singida Black Stars SC, through its Disciplinary Committee, has taken disciplinary action against players Khalid Aucho and Amas Obasogie,” the statement read, reminding all players and staff to uphold discipline, responsibility and respect for the club.
For a player known for leadership and discipline, the decision sparked debate across the region. Aucho, who also captains the Uganda national team, chose a measured response on social media.
“I have always carried myself with professionalism throughout my career, representing every club with respect and discipline,” he wrote.
“In all my years in football, I have never been involved in any case of indiscipline because I understand the responsibility that comes with being a professional player.”
It was a firm defence of his character and the standards he believes define him commitment, respect and accountability.
Aucho joined Singida at the start of the season after leaving Young Africans S.C.. His arrival signaled ambition, and he played a key role in helping the club reach the group stages of the CAF Confederation Cup for the first time in their history.
That achievement raised both his profile and the club’s standing on the continent, making the suspension even more surprising.
Still, his message to supporters remained steady.
“To my beloved fans who have always stood by me, this situation will come to pass. Thank you for your continued support.”
For now, the midfielder faces three months away from club football, a difficult stretch for a player used to leading from the front.
