The Baby Victoria Pearls showcased an outstanding performance to secure their second win of the tournament with a convincing 9-wicket victory over Kenya at the IPRC Oval in Kigali.

After Kenya won the toss and chose to bat, Uganda’s bowlers quickly took control of the game. Lorna Anyait was the star of the show, delivering a career-best performance with the ball.

She took an impressive 7 wickets for just 6 runs, including a hat-trick. Kenya struggled to form any meaningful partnerships and were eventually bowled out for a mere 37 runs in 13.5 overs.

Despite an early setback when Uganda lost their captain, Jimia Muhamed, to a quick wicket, Asumin Akurut stepped in to steady the chase. Alongside Patricia Fiona Timong, the pair confidently guided Uganda to the target, reaching it with 11 overs to spare.

The commanding win puts Uganda at the top of Group A with 4 points from 2 games with a better net run rate than that of Rwanda who are level on point.

Both teams have also booked their semifinal slots ahead of their final group stage game where they face off with the winner toping Group A.

Head coach Yusuf Nanga praised the team’s unity, saying, “In all our two games, wehave played as a team, and moving forward, we would like to stick to our plans. We are not underestimating any opponent. We hope to carry this momentuminto our last group stage game against Rwanda on Wednesday.”
