Favour Nambatya is on the long road back—and she’s not backing down.
The 25-year-old Ugandan footballer is recovering from a torn ACL, an injury that could’ve ended her career.
She picked it up during a private training session last year and is now 30% into her recovery after undergoing surgery earlier this year.
“I’m not rushing anything. My body has to be ready,” Nambatya says. “I’m working on physiotherapy, mobility, and trusting my body again.”
Instead of chasing a quick comeback, she’s taking her time quietly, consistently. Most days are spent in rehab, where each session costs her 60,000 shillings. Without a club salary, the expenses; transport, medication, nutrition keep piling up.
“I still need more financial help,” she admits. “Rehab is expensive, but I’m doing everything I can.”
Still, she keeps going. Every painful stretch, every slow step, brings her closer to the pitch again.
