Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) boss Gianni Infantino congratulated Vipers SC upon winning their fifth Uganda Premier League trophy.
The Kitende outfit emerged champions with four games remaining, attracting applause from the world football governing body’s chief.
“It is with pleasure that I congratulate Vipers SC for having been crowned 2021/22 champions of Uganda,” Infantino partly said in a letter.
“This title could not have been achieved without the entire team’s hard work, passion and dedication,”he added.
By winning the trophy, the Venoms added to the ones scooped in 2010/11, 2015/16, 2017/18, and 2019/20.
It was also the second title that Vipers won under head coach Roberto Oliveira, having been in the job for only eleven months.
His first was the 2021 Uganda Cup that they won, having beaten BUL FC 8-1 at the FUFA Technical Center in Njeru.
The Venoms are now chasing their first ever domestic double. They are now 90 minutes away to reach finals of the Uganda Cup following a 1-2 away win against Mbarara City FC in the first leg.
