Uganda’s badminton national team has received a boost as they prepare for the BWF World Championships in Paris, France, from August 25 to 31. Inspire Africa Coffee has contributed UGX 10 million to support the team’s travel and preparations.
Tracy Naluwooza and Shamika Fadilah, Africa’s top-ranked women’s doubles pair, will represent Uganda among just three African entries. With 383 players from 53 nations expected, the duo faces tough competition.
Fadilah expressed gratitude for the support:
“I would like to thank Inspire Africa Coffee for the sponsorship. It really helps the team. I feel ready for the World Championship and will do my best.”
Naluwooza added, “We are grateful for the sponsorship and hope to make our country proud.”
Coach William Kabindi, has led the team through weeks of training.
Duncan Abigaba, Corporate Affairs Manager at Inspire Africa Group, said the sponsorship covers air tickets and accommodations and is part of a broader plan to promote Uganda’s coffee and tourism globally.
“This will not be a one-off. We aim to work consistently with our sports stars to showcase Uganda on the world stage,” he said.
Shamika and Naluwooza’s campaign in Paris marks a historic moment for Ugandan badminton. With strong teamwork and preparation, the pair is ready to take on the world’s best.
