Jinja Association Cricket Club (JACC) delivered a clinical all-round performance to defeat Rounders Cricket Club by 81 runs in the much-anticipated Jinja derby at the Jinja Cricket Oval.

The win marks JACC’s fourth triumph in six Division One matches this season, while Rounders continue to struggle with their fifth loss in seven outings.

After being put in to bat, JACC posted a respectable 192 runs in 48.4 overs. Anchored by a gritty 65 from Mulongo Paul and a steady 46 from Richard Sohera, the team recovered from early setbacks, including the quick dismissals of opener Patel Abhay (1) and captain Kenneth Waiswa (2). Late contributions from Eddie Agaba (14) and Emmanuel Mukisa (8) helped boost the total.

Rounders’ bowling was spearheaded by Collins Okwalinga and Jonathan Nyiiro, who picked up three wickets each. Despite some disciplined spells, especially from Tembo Zubair, who conceded just 16 runs in 7 overs, extras (28 in total) proved costly for Rounders.

In response, Rounders faltered in their chase, bundled out for just 111 runs in 33.2 overs. Kenneth Waiswa led from the front with a devastating five-wicket haul while Eddie Agaba chipped in with three wickets.

None of Rounders’ batters managed to build a significant innings, with Narinder Singh’s 33 the only notable resistance. Wickets fell at regular intervals, and a collapse from 71/2 to 111 all out sealed their fate.

Elsewhere in Division One action, Ceylon Lions edged Aboojo CC by two wickets via the Duckworth-Lewis method while Kutchi Tigers outplayed Tornado Bees by 54 runs.

The Wanderers’ poor run continued as they slumped to their fifth loss, this time against Avengers, who cruised to a seven-wicket win.
