Jane Asinde is on the move again. The Uganda Gazelles captain has signed with Azulmarino, a club in Spainโs Liga Femenina Challenge โ the countryโs second-tier womenโs basketball league.
The 25-year-old forward joins from top-flight side Ensino Lugo, where she played last season. Sheโs also had a stint in China with Henan and continues to be a key figure for Ugandaโs national team.
Currently in camp preparing for the 2025 FIBA Womenโs AfroBasket in Ivory Coast, Asinde is coming off a dominant qualifying campaign, averaging 18.8 points and 10 rebounds per game with five straight double-doubles.
Her move reunites her with coach Alberto Antuรฑa, who previously worked with her during his time with the Ugandan national team.
Asindeโs journey began at Buddo Secondary School before developing under coach John Omondi at Magic Stormers.
She had a short spell with JKL Lady Dolphins before heading to the U.S., where she starred at Grayson College, Wichita State, and UTEP earning multiple honors and averaging over 16 points in her final college season.
