Jane Asinde is on the move again. The Uganda Gazelles captain has signed with Azulmarino, a club in Spain’s Liga Femenina Challenge — the country’s second-tier women’s basketball league.
The 25-year-old forward joins from top-flight side Ensino Lugo, where she played last season. She’s also had a stint in China with Henan and continues to be a key figure for Uganda’s national team.
Currently in camp preparing for the 2025 FIBA Women’s AfroBasket in Ivory Coast, Asinde is coming off a dominant qualifying campaign, averaging 18.8 points and 10 rebounds per game with five straight double-doubles.
Her move reunites her with coach Alberto Antuña, who previously worked with her during his time with the Ugandan national team.
Asinde’s journey began at Buddo Secondary School before developing under coach John Omondi at Magic Stormers.
She had a short spell with JKL Lady Dolphins before heading to the U.S., where she starred at Grayson College, Wichita State, and UTEP earning multiple honors and averaging over 16 points in her final college season.
