Jane Asinde has earned a spot among Africa’s elite, making the All-Star 5 at the 2025 FIBA Women’s AfroBasket in Abidjan.
Despite Uganda finishing eighth, the Gazelles captain stood out throughout the tournament. Her biggest moment came in Uganda’s shock win over 11-time champions Senegal, where she scored 18 points and pulled down 11 rebounds.
Asinde’s consistent play and leadership helped Uganda reach the quarterfinals for just the second time. Even as the team fell to South Sudan, Mozambique, and hosts Ivory Coast in later rounds, Asinde’s impact never wavered.
She joins a top-tier lineup that includes Senegal’s Cierra Dillard, Mali’s Sika Koné, South Sudan’s Delicia Washington, and Nigeria’s Amy Okonkwo, named MVP for a second straight tournament as Nigeria defended their title.
