Uganda Gazelles star Jane Asinde has been named Conference USA (CUSA) Player of the Week for her impressive performance leading the UTEP Miners.
“UTEP’s Jane Asinde and Louisiana Tech’s Jianna Morris earned Conference USA Women’s Basketball weekly honours. The 2023-24 Players of the Week are presented by Blenders Eyewear and are voted on by the league’s sports information directors.”
Asinde becomes the third Miner to be recognized with a weekly conference award after her teammates Erin Wilson earned CUSA Player of the Week on January 1 and Aaliyah Stanton was named CUSA Freshman of the Week twice, on November 27 and January 29.

Jane Asinde led the UTEP Miners in both scoring and rebounding in both of UTEP’s games this past week. The Miners went 1-1 the past week with Asinde averaging 20.5 points and 11.5 rebounds in the two contests while also tacking on six assists and two blocks.
Asinde ranks second in CUSA in points per game (16.2) and rebounds per game (9.4).
This week, the UTEP Miners will play their final home games of the regular season, i.e. Jax State on Thursday and then Liberty on Saturday.
