Jean Sseninde Bukenya has been appointed Interim Executive Director of the Council of East and Central Africa Football Associations (CECAFA), marking another milestone in her remarkable rise from player to football administrator.

The appointment was announced on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, through an official CECAFA statement. “CECAFA wishes to inform Member Associations and all stakeholders that Mrs. Bukenya Jean Sseninde has been appointed by CAF as Interim Executive Director,” the statement read in part.

CECAFA Acting President Alexandre Muyenge welcomed the appointment, expressing confidence in Sseninde’s leadership. “We are delighted to have Sseninde take up this role and will give her all the support needed as we continue developing football in the region,” Muyenge said.

A former Crested Cranes player, Sseninde has steadily built a strong reputation in football management since retiring from active play.

She currently serves as a general coordinator on matchdays in Uganda and manages her own team, Red Ants FC, an initiative that highlights her commitment to nurturing young talent and growing the game at the grassroots.
