Tanzania’s JKT Queens defeated CBE FC of Ethiopia 5-4 on penalties to win the 2023 CECAFA Zonal Qualifiers on Wednesday.

The match, which was played at the FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru, Uganda, was a closely contested affair, with both teams creating chances but failing to score in regular time or extra time.

In the penalty shootout, JKT Queens were more clinical, scoring all five of their penalties.

CBE FC missed one penalty through Mesay Temsegen while JKT Queens’ Happyness Hezron scored the fifth and winning penalty.

CBE FC have now lost two finals in the three editions. They lost to Vihiga Queens of Kenya in 2021 and now they have lost to JKT Queens of Tanzania in this year’s edition.
