Ugandan forward Joel Madondo has secured a move to South Africa’s Betway Premiership side Richards Bay FC, signing a two year deal after an impressive trial with the Natal Rich Boys.
The switch was confirmed by Eswatini champions Nsingizini Hotspurs, who said Richards Bay met all conditions and agreed personal terms with the player.
“The club has received and accepted an offer from Richards Bay FC for the permanent transfer of Joel Madondo,” Nsingizini said.
“While he will be greatly missed, his future comes first and we thank him for his contribution.”
Madondo’s departure brings an early end to his stay in Eswatini, less than a year after he joined Nsingizini in July 2025 on a two year contract.
The club also praised Richards Bay for their professionalism and wished the forward well in South Africa.
At Richards Bay, Madondo has signed a contract running until January 2028.
He will join fellow Ugandan and Cranes goalkeeper Salim Jamal Magoola, who has been at the club since 2022 and is now in his fourth season.
Madondo becomes the third Ugandan player in the South African Premiership this season, alongside Mamelodi Sundowns veteran goalkeeper Denis Onyango.
His move adds to a growing Ugandan presence in South Africa, continuing a path once taken by David Obua, Geoffrey Massa, Brian Umony, Moses Waiswa, Timothy Batabaire and Geoffrey Sserunkuma.
