JT Jaguars seek suspension of Quarterfinal series amid eligibility dispute with City Oilers

JT Jaguars BBC has petitioned the FUBA Competitions Council to suspend their National Basketball League Quarterfinal series against defending champions City Oilers BBC over an ongoing eligibility dispute involving two Oilers players.

The request follows guidance from the Juridical and Appeals Tribunal, which will hold a hearing on Sunday, September 8, to decide the status of Chad Bowie and Kurt Curry Wegscheider.

Jaguars argue that FUBA’s approval of the players involved procedural irregularities and violations of the 2025 Competition Rules.

The Quarterfinal series was initially scheduled as follows:

• Game 1: Friday, September 6 — 9:00 PM

• Game 2: Sunday, September 8 — 4:00 PM

• Game 3: Thursday, September 11 — 9:00 PM

JT Jaguars insist the games should not proceed before the Tribunal’s ruling, saying it would compromise the appeal process and affect the competition’s credibility.

The Tribunal, appointed by FUBA’s Executive Committee, advised that no action should be taken until a decision is reached.

Under the National Sports Act, any dissatisfied party can escalate the matter to a Special Tribunal appointed by the Sports Minister to ensure fair play and independent oversight.

The Jaguars thanked the Tribunal for its “prompt attention” and expressed confidence in the ongoing sports reforms to deliver a fair resolution.
