JT Jaguars may be top of the table, but they know their season hasn’t been perfect. Despite racking up 14 wins in 18 games, the team’s form has been uneven, dominating some nights and falling short on others.
Big wins over the KIU Rangers and UPDF Lady Tomahawks have kept them ahead, but costly losses to fellow title contenders UCU Lady Canons and defending champions JKL Lady Dolphins in their last four games have raised questions about their consistency.
Injuries haven’t helped, and as the regular season winds down, the Jaguars are making moves to steady the ship before the playoffs.
On Monday, June 30, the club announced the signing of Malian center Bai Sangare from Ivory Coast’s GSPM. It’s a timely boost aimed at addressing defensive lapses and rebounding struggles.
“The JT Lady Jaguars are thrilled to announce our newest addition, Bai Sangare, to the park,” read the club’s statement.
Sangare’s size and experience are expected to add grit in the paint and much-needed stability under the rim areas that have cost the Jaguars in tight games.
With 32 points, the Jaguars currently lead the league, but head coach Brenda Ekone isn’t taking anything for granted. Sangare’s arrival may signal more mid-season reinforcements as the team chases its first-ever NBL title.
Their next test comes this Saturday, July 5, against the Magic Stormers, an early chance to see if Sangare is the missing piece in the Jaguars’ championship puzzle.
