The Cricket Cranes have commenced their ten-day camp in Jinja as part of their preparations for the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.

The team composed of 26 players left Lugogo early on Wednesday for the eastern district.

Pace bowlers Juma Miyaji and Cosmos Kyewuta – the two openers for the team – who were sidelined for prolonged spells last year due to injuries are among the 26 that have been summoned.

There’s also room for Innocent Mwebaze and Mohammad Shaf – the new additions in the team. It is the first time the duo will be engaged with the national team.

Before leaving for Jinja, Cricket Cranes interim coach Jackson Ogwang explained why the Cricket Cranes are taking the camp and also revealed where the Cricket Cranes will go for their first engagement outside Uganda this year.

“We are looking at team building first. That will give us a way forward on what we will need to work on throughout the year.

“The camp will help us in preparations for our first tour of the year, which will be a 12-day camp in India.”

On the return of both Miyaji and Kyewuta, Ogwang said; “Reports from our physiotherapist show that they are at 90%. We hope the camp in Jinja will give us a clear view of their level of fitness.”
