Superintendent of Police and the Region Traffic Officer Kampala Metropolitan North, Bruce Oinebye, warned motorists and cyclists to give way to runners participating in the race.

Speaking to reporters at Muteesa 1 Royal University in Kakeeka Mengo on Thursday, April 2, he said, “After the roads have been marked, I want to inform motorists and cyclists that on April 12, 2026, on the roads of Kampala, runners are the priority. You must stop and let them pass.”

There have been no reported accidents related to the race, and the Uganda Police Force, together with the Buganda Kingdom, is taking extra care to maintain security and safety, especially during the race.

Minister of Youth, Sports and Arts, Robert Sserwanga urged people to participate in the race to further promote their health activities as they continue to lay the foundation for the Buganda Kingdom’s fight against HIV/AIDS spread.

On Sunday, April 12, the 13th edition of the race will be held in three categories including 5, 10, and 21 kilometers or half marathon, and the Uganda Athletics Federation was instrumental in selecting the routes identified for the race.
