2024/25 FUFA Women Elite League Final
- St Noa Girls 1-0 Asubo Ladies
St. Noa Girls Secondary School edged Asubo Ladies FC 1-0 on a rain-drenched Sunday afternoon to claim the FUFA Women Elite League crown at Kabaka Kyabagu Stadium.
The tightly contested encounter was decided by a moment of opportunism from St. Noa’s speedy forward, Slivia Kabene, who made the most of a defensive mix-up to find the back of the net in the first half.
Her alertness in capitalizing on the miscommunication between Asubo Ladies goalkeeper Olga Lukia Bitiru and a defender proved to be the match’s turning point and ultimately, the title winner.
The heavens opened shortly before kickoff, drenching the pitch and setting the stage for a gritty, hard-fought final.
Despite the slippery conditions, both sides showed commendable spirit and tactical discipline.
However, it was St. Noa who capitalized on their one clear chance, and Kabene’s clinical finish turned out to be the difference in a game of fine margins.
The win caps off an unbeaten season for St. Noa, who topped the Elizabeth group with 32 points.
Asubo Ladies, who finished first in the Victoria group with 29 points, fell just short in the final but can take consolation in their confirmed promotion to next season’s FUFA Women Super League alongside their Sunday rivals.
Kabene’s brilliance throughout the campaign was fittingly recognized as she was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player.
Her teammate, Lillian Nakirya, also earned accolades as Goalkeeper of the Season, solidifying St. Noa’s dominance at both ends of the pitch.
Meanwhile, Faith Akoi of Gold Star FC finished as the league’s top scorer with an impressive 13 goals, showcasing the wealth of attacking talent across the competition.
