FUFA Super 8
- URA FC 2-0 Kitara FC
Nicholas Kabonge struck late to hand Uganda Revenue Authority Football Club (URA FC) a dramatic 2-1 win over Kitara FC in a tense FUFA Super 8 clash at the Phillip Omondi Stadium on Wednesday.
URA started strongly and took the lead in the 31st minute when Joseph Ssemujju dived low to head in a precise cross, putting the Tax Collectors ahead.
Kitara almost equalized before halftime, but Denis Mande wasted a golden chance, shooting straight at the URA goalkeeper.
After the break, Kitara came out fighting and eventually leveled in the 66th minute through Isaac Doca Mweru, who buried a rebound after URA failed to clear John Byaruhanga’s delivery.
With the game seemingly headed for a draw, Kabonge stepped up in the final minutes, calmly slotting home the winner to spark wild celebrations among URA fans.
The result extends URA’s strong run in the competition, while Kitara are left to regret missed chances and defensive lapses.
URA’s head coach hailed his side’s resilience, praising Kabonge’s decisive strike as “a reflection of the team’s fighting spirit.”
URA now turn their focus to their next fixture, while Kitara will need a quick recovery to get back on track.
