Those words from Evelyn Kabongerwa Biribonwa Shinyekwa sum up why Cricket Uganda has extended her stay as Acting Chief Executive Officer for another year.
The decision signals confidence in her leadership and a desire for continuity as the sport charts its next phase of growth.
Kabongerwa, the first woman to serve as Acting CEO of Cricket Uganda, has earned the extension after a steady nine month spell defined by professionalism, fresh ideas and inclusive leadership.
The board believes her continued guidance will help strengthen systems, modernise operations and raise Uganda’s profile both regionally and internationally.
A Chartered Accountant with over 20 years’ experience, Kabongerwa brings strong governance and financial expertise to the role. She holds an MBA from Makerere University and is pursuing a PhD in Business Administration and Management.
Her career cuts across the public, private and non-profit sectors, with previous roles at Cricket Uganda, RSM Eastern Africa, Kisaka & Company CPA, Uganda Media Women’s Association, ISIS-WICCE and the Foundation for Human Rights Initiative, among others.
In the year ahead, her focus will be to streamline Cricket Uganda’s operations, widen grassroots pathways to grow talent across the country, strengthen corporate partnerships for sustainable funding, and improve Uganda’s competitiveness on the continental and global stage.
Cricket Uganda Chairman Jackson Kavuma welcomed the extension, praising Kabongerwa’s integrity and deep understanding of the game.
He described her as a top level sports administrator whose leadership marks an important step forward for Ugandan cricket.
With her mandate renewed, Kabongerwa now leads the game into a period defined by professionalism, inclusion and long term ambition,which is to firmly place Uganda on the world cricket map.
