Kampala Club ready for 2025 Squash Invitational tournament

Kampala Club will come alive from September 22–27 as more than 100 top squash players from Uganda and across East Africa compete in the 2025 Kinyara Sugar Invitational.

The tournament, launched Monday, got a boost with UGX 30 million in sponsorship from the Masindi based company.

Players reaching the quarterfinals will share UGX 8 million in prize money plus trophies, medals, certificates, sugar and squash balls.

“Kinyara Sugar is excited to promote squash and nurture talent in Uganda,” said marketing director Sekhar Veedhi, pledging a long-term partnership. 

Kampala Club’s Dr. David Kamukama welcomed the support, calling squash a key sport for the club.

Uganda Squash Rackets Association president John Bosco Tamwesigire Ahimbisibwe promised a thrilling championship, with elite Kenyans James Dalidi, Joseph Sean, and Jane Njeri set to test Uganda’s best.

Local stars Paul Kasirye Kadoma, Ivan Wasswa, Jonathan Wegamire, Michael Kawooya, Elizabeth Musimenta, and Julian Ainomugisha headline the home lineup.

Organised by a team led by Hon. William Byaruhanga, the event promises top-class action and vibrant crowds as Kampala showcases the region’s squash talent.
