Twelve (12) minutes into the opening half Shamusa Najjuma opened the scoring for the visitors when she placed a ball far left Josephine Nambuya’s goal.

This was a wake-up call for the hosts, who responded with a couple of shots in by Namutebi Krusoom from long range, only to fly wide, and Nabirye Shadia in close rage, forced Kawempe shot stopper Daisy Nakaziro into a clean save.

However, in the 23rd minute, Nabirye from a Jolly Kobusigye throw-in, levelled matters with a well-placed ball in the top left corner of Nakaziro’s goal

But this didn’t last long as Najjuma restored Kampala Queens’ lead three minutes later with a close-range finish to award the visitors with a 2-1 edge.

Asia Nakibuuka added the third with a long ball from her half past Nambuya’s hands into the goal where it found Kawempe defender Hadijja Babirye who failed to clear it, ending the half 3-1.

After the restart, Kawempe staged a number of efforts, creating multiple chances that didn’t turn into goals thus turning into frustrations later on.

With two minutes left to the 90th-minute mark, Queens Captain Shamirah Nalugya sealed the win with a long-range shot off the right.

This win took Kampala Queens a point clear at the top of the table with 25 points for the first time this season while Kawempe dropped to second.

The other game of the day saw Olila High School pile more misery on Uganda Martyrs with a Dorcus Lwalisa lone goal which took them out of the relegation zone.

These games concluded the Finance Trust Women Super League’s first round and the second will resume in early February.
