Uganda’s representatives of the 2023 CAF WCLZQ Kampala Queens FC will be in action on Monday evening against winless FAD FC in their last group game while Buja Queens will take on Yei Joint Stars in the early kick off, in a must win game for the champions of Burundi.
Kampala Queens FC, on 4 points, will have to beat FAD FC in their last group game with a big goal margin and stay positive until the last day of group stages games.
However, Buja Queens who are third on the table with 3 points and 2 games in hand, will also need a win over Yei Joint Stars who are fourth on the table, also on 3 points.
Coach and captain pregame
While talking to the media, Kampala Queens head coach Charles Ssenyange said his target is raining goals today against winless FAD FC.
“We have been working on capitalizing chances in the final third, and I hope the girls will implement what we have been training. Our target is to score as many goals as possible.” He said
Kampala Queens captain Zainah Namuleme is still hopeful regardless the standings of her team.
“We are ready for FAD FC and our target is to win the game and see what’s next.” said brave Namuleme
In the previous game, Kampala Queens needed Zainah Nandede‘s last minute equalizer to get a point from C.B.E. Some changes are expected to be made in today’s game.
Zaina Nandede, Shamirah Nalugya and Asia Nakibuuka are the players expected to start the game while Margret who missed the last game due to an injury, is back.
A win for Kampala Queens with a margin below 6 goals, will mathematically send C.B.E FC to the semifinals before their last game against poor FAD FC.
The top two teams from group A will face JKT Queens and Vihiga Queens who have already reached the semifinals, and the winner of the tournament will represent CECAFA region in the final tournament of CAF Women’s Champions League in Ivory Coast in November this year.
