Kampala Queens miss chance to go top with 1-1 draw at UCU Lady Cardinals

Kampala Queens FC, the defending champions of the Ugandan Women’s Super League, were unable to climb to the top of the table after drawing 1-1 with UCU Lady Cardinals on Saturday morning in Mukono.

Early Goals Set the Stage for Tight Encounter

The hosts took the lead in just four minutes through Jovia Nakagolo who brilliantly fired past goalkeeper Daisy Nakaziro.

Eight minutes later, forward Catherine Nagadya leveled the matters for the visitors to raise their hopes of picking positive results from Mukono.

Before the break, Sandra Kisakye forced Kampala Queens goalkeeper Daisy Nakaziro into a top save to keep the game all square in the first 45 minutes.

In the second half, both sides had opportunities to take the lead but goalkeepers were equal to the tasks as they made superb saves.

Table Update:

The result leaves the Queens of Soccer in second place with 24 points, level on points with leaders Kawempe who boast a superior goal difference and a game in hand.

UCU Lady Cardinals remain in fifth place with 14 points, just 4 points above the relegation zone having played one game more than the bottom two.

In the next game, UCU Lady Cardinals will visit Wakiso Hill WFC on Saturday 6th April and on the following day, Kampala Queens will host Rines SS WFC in Lugogo.
