Kampala Queens have named their final 22-player squad for the 2025 CAF Women’s Champions League Zonal Qualifiers in Nairobi, Kenya, as they aim to make amends after falling short in the 2023 edition.
In a twist, veteran goalkeeper Daisy Nakaziro returns to the team despite earlier confirming her departure when her contract expired on July 4.
Following fresh talks, she rejoined and will compete for the No.1 spot alongside Gloria Namakula and new signing Sharon Kaidu.
The squad includes nine new faces Kaidu, Precious Phiri, Square Maiwase, Joanita Ainembabazi, Amedu Sahilu, Turist Lema, Marion Amangat, Catherine Wujja, and Jolly Kobusinge, all set for their continental debuts.
Under head coach Asefa Firew Haile Gabreal, Kampala Queens are based at Waridi Paradise Hotel in Nairobi as they wrap up preparations.
Drawn in Group A alongside Kenya Police Bullets and FC Denden, they open their campaign this Thursday against Kenya Police Bullets.
The tournament features nine teams split into three groups. The group winners and the best runner-up advance to the semifinals.
Kampala Queens are targeting a stronger run after failing to get past the group stage in 2023.
