With both teams remaining unbeaten since the start and looking to gain points in the chase for the Kampala Region 3rd Division League, their match is set for Sunday, March 22, with Black Star hosting Mutungo FC at Kanyanya Express ground.
Going into the fixture, Black Star is still shining brighter with four wins in four fixtures, having defeated Born Talent FC, Edgar’s FC, Mbogo FC, and Police Young FC.
So far, the league leaders in the second round have scored 13 goals and conceded 3, with that form coming away from home as they head into their first home game in the second round.
Striker Benon Lutaaya, the current league top scorer, is back from injury to rejoin Alex Ssekyanzi, Ivan Kanda, and Peter Kaye, who carried the team on his back in the last 2-0 win over Police Young, to continue driving the team on the pitch.
For Mutungo, they have so far played a game less, won twice against PCCP FC and Proline, and drawn their last game 0-0 with Mbogo FC in their first home game of the second round.
In the fixture, they will seek to put a stop to Black Star, who is excelling despite having all four second-round fixtures away from home but returning home for the first time in the second round with a big task to handle.
Mutungo FC is hoping to continue relying much on forward Deogracious Adule, their leading top scorer with 10 goals, creative midfielder Innocent Tumuhimbise, goalkeeper Stuart Matove, defender Aaron Junior Musiima, and the rise of his partner Pius Kwoyelo in center back.
The last meeting between the two sides was a 0-0 draw at Mutungo FC’s home in Luzira. Last season, Mutungo FC won 1-0 in Kanyanya for their only win in the last five meetings, during period Black Stars have won twice, and the remaining games ended in a draw.
The fixture between Black Stars and Mutungo FC over the weekend will come along with other Kampala Region 3rd Division fixtures in the promotion group.
