Kampala Region League: Nsambya SC, Kisugu United, Born Talent secure late top half finish

In the unusual format on demonstration in Kampala Regional League 3rd division, Nsambya SC, Kisugu United, and Born Talent managed to finish in the top half using the final challenge.

With all 18 teams in the league in action, at Yes Center both teams used a space of five minutes to score as the game was midway through the second half.

Nasser Mwebe finished a well-built attack which had over five passes before Hakim Damulira on the right flank found the goalscorer for the visiting team far running in from the left. Tony Odur continued to carry his home team on his back with a stunning header off Isaac Ofoyrwoth’s cross from the left flank.

After finishing the 1-1 play, team officials in tense get on phones in searching for other results which would have decided their fate, and finally, the good news for both teams came from Black Star’s 2-0 win over Mbogo United.

After confirmation of top finish Brian Tumusiime Matu joyously noted,”though we dropped the opportunity but results from other games stood for us, we are going to work herder in the next round because we started badly but we kept growing and we ended up with the most win in the league 8.

With the win, Black Star kept themselves in the championship half while worsening Mbogo United’s situation after Born Talent beat Lungujja Galaxy 2-0, forcing the Kawempe-based side out of the top half due to a minor goal difference.

In other games, Mutungo FC won over Lufula FC 3-0 with Deogracious Odule, Muhammad Lubega, and Wasswa scoring the goals that kept the Luzira-based side in the continuing race for Big League Promotion.

Proline FC won a high-scoring contest over Police Young in the clash that decided the first-round winner. The game played at Kira Road Police Ground ended 5-2.

PCCP FC also finished in the promotional chasing half following a 1-0 win over Buganda Road. 

Other teams like Water FC, Lungujja Galaxy, Wembley Boys, Lufula FC, Lukuli Hearts, Ntinda United, and Kireka United ended on Bottom zone with Mbogo United and Buganda Road.
