Following three days of action involving 15 schools from five USSSA districts in the Kampala Region, four teams have emerged, reaching the Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association Boys’ Football National Championship.
The group stage was played on April 9, 10, and 11th morning, eight teams such as Lubiri SS, Buziga Islamic, Kakungulu Memorial, Mengo SS, Uganda Martyrs High School Rubaga, Kazo Hill, Kawempe Muslim SS, and Kibuli SS reached the quarterfinals.
With the region seeking four schools to qualify for the Nationals, Lubiri SS reached the edition that will be hosted by Lira Town College in May by beating Uganda Martyrs Rubaga 2-0 on Saturday, April 11, at Hamz Stadium.
Fantastic Captain Marith Abui scored a second-half brace to decide the tie; his first goal came with 9 minutes left in the play when he scored from a penalty that resulted from Sundais Ssimbwa’s handball in the box.
Three minutes later, in the 64th minute, Uganda Martyrs Rubaga won a penalty but captain Hakim Mandela sent it wide of the goal, missing a chance to equalize.
In the final minute of added time, Daniel Malual’s brilliance helped him set up a second goal for Abui who scored from a rebound off the goalkeeper to see Lubiri SS reach the regional Semifinals qualifying for Nationals.
In the first quarterfinals at Hamz Stadium, Kawempe Muslim SS defeated Buziga Islamic 1-0, Ismail Habibu scored the goal.

Kibuli SS defeated rivals Kakungulu Memorial School 1-0 with Isaac Kizza scoring the only goal while Kazo Hill powered past Mengo SS, beating them 2-0.
Following the confirmation of the qualified teams to Nationals, on Tuesday the battle to decide the Kampala Region Schools champion will continue with Semifinals at Hamz Stadium. Kawempe Muslim will face Kibuli SS while Lubiri SS shall entertain Kazo Hill.
