In the Kampala Regional League over the weekend, Black Stars submitted the biggest smash of week 19, putting 5-2 to Edgars FC at Muteesa 2 Wankulukuku Stadium on Sunday, March 8.
Complete forward young Benon Lutaaya and skillful Ivan Kanda both marked the party with braces, while another prolific forward, Alex Ssekyanzi, was also on the score sheet.
With those two goals, Lutaaya became the league’s top scorer with 13 goals following Kennedy Musenero who played for Edgars FC departing from the league for top-flight side KCCA FC.
Captaining a sinking boat, even combined Biblic Joseph’s in Jjemba and Kimera weren’t able to save the Sharifah Nantumbwe-coached side from the humiliation, despite being on the score sheet.
With the bossing win, Black Stars managed to make it two wins in two games, scoring eight goals while conceding two, living proudly in the second phase of the demonstration league format.
In their opening game of the phase, they defeated Born Talent 3-0, highlighting the fact that they haven’t played a game at home this round. On the other hand, Edgar’s FC chopped Police Young 1-0 while opening the phase.
Again on Sunday, Mutongo FC started their second round with a 2-1 win over PCCP FC in Kibuli. Midfielder Rodgers Mudekete came off the bench to score a winner and claim the man of the match prize.
Allan Kalule scored for PCCP FC to lead 1-0 at halftime, but striker Wasswa Dickson Kigongo equalized for Mutungo FC to enforce the comeback.
Elsewhere, Mbogo FC also collected a successive win, beating Police Young 3-0. In the round opener, they won 2-0 over who? Proline FC bounced back with a 2-0 win over Kisugu FC.
