Mutungo United, a prominent club in the Kampala Regional League, has bolstered its squad with the addition of five new players ahead of the upcoming season. The signings aim to strengthen the team as they prepare for a campaign focused on securing promotion to the FUFA Big League, Uganda’s second-tier football division.

The club, which plays its home matches at Luzira Prisons, has made significant moves in the current transfer window. Among the new recruits is striker Wasswa Kigongo Dickson, a 23-year-old from Mbale Heroes. Kigongo, a product of the Luzira Soccer Academy, brings experience from the Uganda top flight, having played with Mbale Heroes last season.

Mutungo United also announced the return of forward Deogracios Adule, who rejoins the club from Kirinya Sports Club. The 27-year-old striker was a key player in the 2022-2023 season, where he scored 17 goals to help the team earn promotion to the regional league.

To fortify the midfield, the club has signed Majid Edema, 25, from Golden Impact FC, and Rodgers Mudekete, 26, from Kibibi Golden Eagles FC. Mudekete is a former Ndejje University player.

Completing the new lineup is Robert Okello, a 20-year-old versatile defender who joins from Nantabulirirwa in the Buganda Regional League.

While welcoming new talent, Mutungo United also released seven players: Ivan Alioni, Dan Asoka, Tony Lwanga, Musa Green Senoga, Isaac Opolot, and Deogratius Ssennyongo.

The team has now begun its preparations for the new season, with eyes set firmly on promotion to the FUFA Big League.
