Kampala Soccer Academy emerged victorious at the annual children’s soccer gala held at Blue Park stadium in Mengo Kisenyi, beating out eight other teams of players aged 4-8. On Saturday, September 13, Kampala Soccer Academy defeated last year’s inaugural champions and tournament organizers, Soccer Stars Academy, with a final score of 1-0.

The winning goal was scored by Frank Matovu, who was also the tournament’s top scorer with an impressive seven goals in five games. The newly crowned champions played a stellar tournament, winning three games and drawing twice, while scoring nine goals and conceding only two.

A spokesperson for Soccer Stars Academy, Ronald Kasirye, congratulated all the teams for their participation. “For years, our children below 8 years of age have been overlooked for chances to show off their skills,” Kasirye said. “We believe they have showcased their abilities for their age, and on top of that, they also get to participate in and enjoy the beautiful game.”

The tournament celebrated the young talent on display with a series of awards:

  • Trophy: Kampala Soccer Academy

  • Fair Play Award: Teletabies Soccer Academy
  • Best Player: Rahim Mawejje (Kampala Soccer Academy)
