On July 18, 2025, Kansai Plascon, through their Brand Manager Daniel Kayondo, confirmed the commencement of double sponsorship towards the Masaza Cup.
At the tournament launch held at Bulange in Mengo, Koyongo revealed a total amount injected into Masaza Cup, with 60 million going to organisers while a further 50 million is going directly to Buddu Ssaza.
In his brief, Kayondo stated; “It fills me with great pride to stand before you today as we officially launch the 2025 Masaza Cup, a tournament that embodies the spirit, talent, and unity of the Buganda Kingdom.
“For three consecutive years, Plascon has stood as a proud co-sponsor of this prestigious competition, and today, we reaffirm our commitment to nurturing the dreams of young athletes and celebrating the rich culture of Buganda through sports.
“When we first partnered with Buganda Kingdom, we did so with a shared vision: to uplift communities, preserve heritage, and create opportunities for the next generation.
“Over the years, our collaboration has extended beyond just paint — it has been about people, progress, and passion. From refurbishing Bulange Mengo and Twekobe to supporting agriculture, education, and healthcare initiatives, Plascon has walked hand-in-hand with the Kingdom in nation-building.
“But of all our initiatives, none has been as thrilling as our involvement in sports — a sector that unites millions, transforms lives, and writes unforgettable stories of triumph.”
The Masaza Cup
The Masaza Cup is a big movement. For the 18 counties across Buganda, this competition is a platform where:
- Young talents are discovered and polished, many of whom have gone on to join the Uganda Premier League and even the national team, the Uganda Cranes.
- Communities come together, setting aside differences to rally behind their teams with pride.
- Values like discipline, teamwork, and perseverance are instilled in players, shaping them into future leaders.
“As co-sponsors since 2023, Plascon has witnessed this tournament grow in stature, talent, and impact. Each year, we see more fans in the stands, more skilled players on the pitch, and more dreams turning into reality.
“Our support for this tournament goes beyond branding — it is about investing in the future of Uganda’s sports ecosystem.
“The Masaza Cup is where stars are born. By supporting this tournament, we are ensuring that raw talent from villages and towns across Buganda gets the exposure and opportunities they deserve.”
This tournament creates jobs — from coaches and referees to vendors and transporters. It boosts local economies and gives young people a pathway out of poverty.
Football in Buganda is more than a game — it is a celebration of identity. The Masaza Cup keeps traditions alive while fostering unity among the 18 counties.
As we launch the 2025 edition of the Masaza Cup, Plascon is excited to continue:
- Supporting the tournament, ensuring bigger prizes, and wider reach.
- Engaging fans through our Twaake campaign, rallying supporters to back their teams with passion.
