KAVC Volleyball Championship serves off today

The 2025 KAVC International Volleyball Championship is underway, with the official group stage draws successfully completed. The tournament, which runs from September 12-14, has brought together top volleyball clubs from across the region to compete for the prestigious title and a share of the UGX 44 million prize money. The draws, held at the Uganda Olympic Committee, set the stage for an exciting weekend of intense volleyball action.

Women’s Division: Key Matchups and Teams to Watch

This year’s women’s tournament features 14 teams split into four groups. The host club, KAVC, finds itself in a compelling Group A alongside fellow Ugandan teams KAVC C and COBAP.

Defending champions RPA of Rwanda face off against Seroma and Kampala University in Group B, promising some thrilling early matches. Group C includes Rwanda Police, Vision Volleyball Club, and Twic of South Sudan. The largest group, Group D, is a four-team battle featuring APR Rwanda, KCCA, Cobra of South Sudan, and KCB Nkumba.

Men’s Division: Groupings and Rivalries

The men’s competition features 15 teams divided into four groups. Tournament hosts KAVC are in Group A, grouped with Sky and Police in an all-Ugandan affair.

Group B is a truly international mix, with REG and Police from Rwanda, Chema of Kenya, and Twic of South Sudan. Group C sees APR of Rwanda drawn against KAVC GZ, KCCA, and Rukinzo. Finally, Group D includes Equity Finance of Kenya, KAVC C, Kampala University, and St Charles.

With these draws, the KAVC International Volleyball Championship is officially set to serve off. Fans can expect a weekend full of powerful spikes, strategic plays, and fierce competition as teams vie for the championship crown and a significant portion of the prize money.
