Kawempe Muslim Secondary School Wins Buganda Schools Cup in Girls Football

Kawempe Muslim Secondary School defeated Uganda Martyrs High School Lubaga 4-3 on penalties to win the Buganda Schools Cup in girls football on Saturday.

The match was played at Muteesa II Stadium, Wankulukuku, and was a rematch of last year’s final, which Uganda Martyrs won on penalties.

Kawempe Muslim dominated the first half of the match, but Uganda Martyrs held on to the 0-0 scoreline at halftime.

The second half was more evenly contested, but neither team was able to find a breakthrough.

The match went to penalties, and Kawempe Muslim converted four penalties out of the six taken. Kawempe’s Halima Kampi and Hadijah Babirye failed to convert.

Latifah Nakasi, Auki Angel and Kiiza Moureen failed to score for Uganda Martyrs and Kawempe won 4-3 on penalties to win the championship.

The win is Kawempe Muslim’s first Buganda Schools Cup title in girls football since 2019.
