KCB flags off Ntambi for WRC Safari Rally

KCB Bank Uganda, in partnership with the Federation of Motorsport Clubs of Uganda (FMU), has officially flagged off Oscar Ntambi and his co-driver Asuman Muhammed ahead of the 2026 World Rally Championship (WRC) Safari Rally.

The ceremony at FMU headquarters in Lugogo also introduced fellow Ugandan drivers Duncan Mubiru, Yasin Nasser and Timothy Gawaya, highlighting a stronger national presence at the global event.

Zainab Kalyowa, Brand Manager at KCB Bank Uganda, said, 

“Today is a milestone for Uganda’s motorsport community. We are proud to send our best talent to compete on the world stage. Oscar’s rise from local champion to WRC contender reflects our commitment to nurturing excellence.”

KCB Bank has committed KShs 227 million to support Ntambi and Muhammed, ensuring they have the resources to compete at the highest level. FMU added UGX 40 million to cover travel, accommodation, and logistics.

Ntambi, piloting a Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X Ralliart, expressed his gratitude; 

“I am thankful to KCB Bank for believing in me. This is not just my achievement, but a chance to show Uganda’s potential on the world stage. I will give my all in Naivasha.”

The acting FMU President urged Ugandans to support the team, saying national backing is key to elevating Uganda’s motorsport profile.

The Safari Rally, from 12th–15th March in Naivasha, Kenya, will cover 350 kilometres of competitive stages across locations including Nawisa, Camp Moran, Geothermal, Kedong, Soysambu, Elementaita, and Hell’s Gate. Ntambi will compete alongside global stars like Sebastien Ogier and Thierry Neuville.

To bring fans closer, KCB Bank is offering VIP tickets to customers transacting via mobile banking, allowing supporters to experience the rally live in Kenya.
