KCCA FC coach Sergio Traguil is confident his side can overturn a 3-1 first-leg deficit to Libyan side Abu Salem in the CAF Confederation Cup when the two sides meet again at St. Mary’s stadium in Kitende on September 30.
Despite the heavy defeat in the first leg, Traguil believes his team can score two goals or more at home and qualify for the group stages of the competition.
“There was nothing special from our opponents. Apart from taking their chances and using time-wasting tactics, I thought we played well,” Traguil said.

“We also gave them easy goals to score since we made a lot of mistakes. We are confident we can score two goals or more at home and we don’t concede.”
Traguil admitted that his team gave Abu Salem too much respect in the first leg.
“We were also nervous in the first 20 minutes but later we settled into the game. We also need to defend well if we are to progress,” he added.
KCCA made it to the CAF Confederation Cup after finishing second in the Ugandan Premier League.
They were given a bye in the first round following their impressive performances in 2017 and 2018 when they qualified for the group stages of the CAF Confederation Cup and Champions League respectively.
The Lugogo side are expected to return to the country on Tuesday and thereafter they will start preparations for their opening game of the 2023/2024 Uganda Premier League season when they make a trip to Njeru to play BUL on Saturday.
