KCCA FC, riding a two-game winning streak, set their sights on a third consecutive victory in the Uganda Premier League when they travel to Bombo to face UPDF on Thursday.

The Lugogo side, revitalized under coach Abdullah Mubiru, seek to climb the standings while the Army side desperately hunt their first win in six matches.

KCCA’s Resurgence Under Mubiru

A sluggish start to the season has given way to a newfound resilience under Mubiru.

Three wins in their last five outings, including impressive triumphs over Soltilo Bright Stars (3-0) and archrivals SC Villa (2-1), showcase KCCA’s improvement.

Mubiru, however, demands even more from his players: “We need to maintain the character and fight we showed in our previous games,” he stated.

“Playing away will be tough, but we’re determined to leave Bombo with points.”

If KCCA wins they might move from tenth (13 points) to eighth on the standings. BUL top the standings with 29 points, five ahead of second placed Vipers.

UPDF Desperate to Break Winless Streak

UPDF against leaders BUL

Mired in 15th place and second from bottom with just 9 points, UPDF yearn to end their five-game winless streak. Consecutive losses to Bright Stars, Gaddafi, Vipers, and Arua Hill, along with a draw against Mbarara City, paint a bleak picture.

Coach Pius Ngabo acknowledges the urgency: “We need to rediscover our winning form. We understand KCCA’s strength, but we’re ready to fight for the result we need.”

Leaders BUL FC with a chance to pull away

In other exciting matchups today, Kitara host rock-bottom Arua Hill at Masindi stadium, while a fiery Jinja derby awaits at FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru, where league leaders BUL clash with local rivals Busoga United.

BUL who are fresh from a spectacular 3-2 win against defending Champions Vipers at Kitende will be hoping to open at 8 point gap at the top of the table as the venoms don’t play until Saturday.
