KCCA FC‘s poor start to the season continued on Sunday as they lost the Kampala derby 2-1 to Express FC at the MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo.
This is their third league defeat in a row, after losing at home to Maroons (2-1) and away to BUL (1-0) in their previous games.
Express FC took the lead in the first half through a Derrick Ngoobi header from a corner kick in the 23rd minute.
KCCA equalized in the 31st minute through a Shaban Muhammad diving header off a cross from Usama Arafat giving the home fans hope for a come back vicory.
Express restored their lead in the 86th minute through menacing striker Isaac Wagoina after good work by substitute Eddie Ssebandeke on the left flank.
KCCA FC coach Sergio Traguil revealed post game that his players didn’t do enough. “We made a lot of mistakes which cost us,” he said. “It pains me that these are continuous and they are affecting the team.”
Express FC coach James Odoch, on the other hand, was pleased with his team’s performance. “The players lived up to task and I believe this is big motivation in our next games.” he said.
KCCA will travel to Masindi for their next game against table leaders Kitara FC on October 19, while Express will be at home against Soltilo Bright Stars on October 20.
