Kampala, Uganda – Jackson Magera will begin his tenure as interim coach of KCCA FC when the Lugogo-based side hosts NEC in a Uganda Premier League (UPL) clash on Thursday.
Magera replaced Sergio Traguil, who was sacked after KCCA lost their first four league games of the season.
The Lugogo side will be looking to bounce back to winning ways against NEC, who have had a bright start to the campaign with three wins in four matches.

One of Magera’s first tasks will be to restore confidence among the players and address the reported divisions in the dressing room.
“Our mentality is to see how the club gets out of this situation,” Magera said at his pre-match press conference.
“We want to make sure the players get mentally ready for the game. We have to acquire results and we have to immediately start with NEC. We know they are performing well.”

“Everyone has to lift up their performance since this is a big club. We want to try and restore KCCA’s potential and we can only do it if we live up to task.”
The two sides will be meeting for the first time in the league, but they previously met in a pre-season match, which KCCA won 1-0.
NEC coach Hussein Mbalangu is confident that his side can live up to expectations against KCCA.

“We want to live up to our expectations,” Mbalangu said.
“We know we are facing a tough side but we are prepared for them. We want to continue performing well in our next games.”
