- JT Jaguars 46-63 KCCA Leopards
KCCA Leopards showcased their championship pedigree with a dominant 63-46 victory over JT Lady Jaguars in a Friday night National Basketball League (NBL) womenโs encounter at the YMCA Court in Kampala.
The Leopards, guided by head coach Rogers Serunyigo, executed a well-balanced team performance built on sharp shooting and disciplined defense to hand the Lady Jaguars their latest setback.
The contest started with intensity, but it was KCCA who took early control.
Peruth Nyamwengeโs buzzer-beating three-pointer at the end of the first quarter gave the Leopards an 18-14 edge. In the second period, the Jaguars’ offense unravelled, managing just seven points as KCCA widened the gap to a commanding 38-21 by halftime.
After the break, the Leopards continued to press their advantage. Mary Priscillar Nambogoโs three-pointer for the Jaguars brought some life into their side, but it was not enough to shift momentum. By the end of the third quarter, KCCA had maintained a comfortable 53-35 lead.
The Lady Jaguars showed signs of a fightback in the fourth quarter, but the Leopards’ experience and game control were too much to overcome, closing out the game with a 17-point cushion.
Susan Rebecca Aanyu led the scoring charts with 20 points for KCCA, while teammates Uwineza Ninette and Asinah Kabendela added 10 points each. Nyamwengeโs early impact set the tone for the Leopardsโ dominance.
For the Lady Jaguars, Sarah Ageno battled valiantly with 18 points, and Maimuna Nabbosa supported with 10, but their efforts couldnโt salvage a game marred by a second-quarter scoring drought.
