- KCCA Leopards 61-49 Angels Basketball
KCCA Leopards showcased their growing dominance in the National Basketball League (NBL) with a 61-49 victory over Angels Basketball Club at the Lugogo Indoor Arena on Sunday.
The win marked the Leopards’ second triumph of the weekend, following their solid performance against KIU Rangers on Friday.
The contest began on an even note with both sides exchanging early baskets. A driving layup by Tracy Namugosa gave the Leopards a slender 19-17 lead at the end of the first quarter.
In the second period, the game remained closely contested. A crucial three-pointer by Martha Patience Likicho for Angels cut their deficit to just three points (29-26) heading into halftime, keeping the game within reach.
However, the Leopards came out of the locker rooms with renewed intensity. Spearheaded by Susan Rebecca Aanyu and Namugosa, the Leopards turned up the tempo, stretching their advantage to 15 points (48-33) by the end of the third quarter.
Though Angels mounted a late charge in the final period, narrowing the gap to 12 points, they were unable to overcome the deficit as KCCA Leopards sealed a well-deserved 61-49 win.
Susan Rebecca Aanyu led all scorers with 14 points, while Tracy Namugosa added 12 points for the Leopards. On the Angels’ side, only Caroline Nakato reached double digits with 10 points.
Leopards’ head coach Roger Serunyigo praised his team’s consistency across the weekend, while Angels’ coach Emmanuel Ateng commended his players for their resilience despite their 10th-season loss.
With this victory, KCCA Leopards continue to build momentum in their NBL campaign with 10 wins, signalling their intent as serious contenders this season.
