Uganda Cup | 2nd Leg semifinals

  • Kataka 1-1 KCCA | Agg: 1-4

The stage is set for a titanic clash as Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) Football Club will take on arch-rivals Vipers SC in the final of the 51st Uganda Cup on May 31, 2025 at the newly constructed Kadiba Stadium in Lubaga, under the electrifying glare of floodlights.

The final was confirmed on Sunday after KCCA sealed their spot with a 4-1 aggregate win over FUFA Big League side Kataka.

The second leg, held at Mbale City Stadium, ended in a 1-1 draw, with Brazilian forward Joao Gabriel Esteves Cardoso, fondly known as Gabi, netting a stunning curler in the 47th minute to give KCCA the lead.

Kataka’s Michael Olinga equalized in the 66th minute, but it was too little too late, as KCCA had already built a commanding 3-0 advantage in the first leg at Lugogo’s MTN Omondi Stadium.

Now, KCCA turn their attention to a familiar foe Vipers SC. The encounter revives memories of the 2018 final where KCCA triumphed over Vipers in Bukedea. With 10 Uganda Cup titles to their name, KCCA will be eyeing an 11th crown, having last lifted the trophy in 2018.

For Vipers, who have already clinched the 2024/25 Uganda Premier League title, the stakes are equally high. Victory at Kadiba would secure their second-ever domestic double, adding to their Uganda Cup victories in 2016, 2020 and most recently in 2023.
