One of Uganda’s brightest young football talents, Brain Jjara, has taken a major step toward his European dream after the 17 year-old KCCA FC midfielder departed for Norway this week to begin trials with top clubs Molde FK and Rosenborg BK.
The move is a reward for Jjara’s rapid rise over the past year. A tireless box to box midfielder with maturity beyond his age, he caught the eye on the global stage while representing Uganda Cubs at the FIFA U-17 World Cup, the country’s first appearance at any World Cup finals.

Jjara featured in every match as the Cubs made history, impressing with his work rate, discipline and ability to link defence to attack.
His performances helped Uganda reach the Round of 16, another landmark achievement that turned heads among European scouts.
Born on October 4, 2008, Jjara is a product of the KCCA FC Soccer Academy. His steady development earned him promotion to the senior side, where he made several appearances in league and cup competitions during the 2024/25 season.
At international level, he became a key figure as Uganda qualified for the U-17 World Cup by defeating Gambia in the CAF playoffs, a breakthrough moment for Ugandan football.
In Qatar, Jjara’s calm presence in midfield stood out, providing balance and energy against more established footballing nations.
Interest in the teenager has grown quickly. Norwegian giants Molde and Rosenborg both known for developing young players and exporting them to bigger European leagues have invited Jjara for trials.
He is expected to take part in training sessions and match assessments over the coming weeks.
